Crime and punishment

In recent years crimes are increasing in the United kingdom and many people are searching to reduce crime rate by suitable punishment. Some people believe rehabilitation for youngsters is the proper way but others believe that adult suitable punishment is the prison.

Some popular crimes which are done by teenagers are juvenile crimes for instance joy-riding, vandalism and graffiti, also there are series crime such as knife crimes. However shorter time for youngsters punishment in prison and longer rehabilitation programme to reform them is a good part of their society.  

Another major problem in United Kingdom is driving while drinking alcohol and this might result in major damage on lives of people or property. Therefore the suitable punishment should be band from driving more than two years with fine and retaking the driving licence exam.

Death penalty must take place in some issues especially to frighten those who have criminal way of thinking to let them think many times before carrying a gun or knife with them.

Politician mustn’t break the law especially that they are the ones who present the law to the people in society so they have to be good examples for ordinary people.

The media news paper

In United Kingdom there are two main categories for the newspapers, the broad sheets or the quality papers and the tabloids or the popular papers. The broadsheets are for educated people containing academic language and most of the articles are on politics and news series. It also has small section about the public life and it has a good section of sports. The reason it called broad sheets because it is larger than the tabloids and some popular broadsheets are the times, guardian and observer .The tabloids newspapers have more readers then the broadsheets it might be because the simple English style and it contain more human interest such as sex and stories also it contain more pictures and less writing then the broad sheets and it has large headlines. Some famous tabloids papers are sunday mirror, sun and daily express. Both the broad sheets and tabloids newspaper can be daily or weekly newspapers.

Three newspapers were carefully chosen in order to complete the LRC task and the issue date of these newspapers was 7^th of May 2011 .The newspapers selected were Westernmail which is local news paper of Wales and the title on first page was ''it is labour but not by enough''. The second paper was financial times, it is economic news paper , and the title was ''scores historical victory'', and third paper was the daily telegraph and the title was ''let us risk our lives''. The story of the day was always in the first page of all of those newspapers and there is different news on the front page that might be related to the categories of the news in the papers.

The National Health Service

The National Health Service (NHS), which was established in 1948, has developed through the years to become the world’s greatest publicly funded health service. The main goals of the NHS are to provide health care services to everyone despite their wealth or status and that everyone in the society receives good treatment. However, there are some charges on some particular treatments such as prescriptions, optical and dental services. The NHS provides care to all citizens or inhabitants of the United Kingdom.  There are more than 60 million people who receive free treatment from the NHS. The NHS provides health care to 4 nations but it is managed separately and in addition there have been some slight changes between them especially in recent years. The NHS is funded by national insurance and general taxation. Today the NHS faces some problems such as lack of funding, shortage of staff and long waiting lists.

The pharmacies clip which was shown to us tells us how the pharmacies use the reboots, which is more accurate than the human being, to organise the medicine in order and quantity for the patients. The pharmacists help people who are in need of special medicine such as tablets to be taken at a particular a date and time. People can also ask the pharmacist for advice about the medicines.

Sport in the UK

There are many famous types of sports played in the United Kingdom. Many sports have a special stadium or play ground across the country such as Twickenham stadium for rugby, Wimbledon for tennis, lords ground for cricket, football at Wembley stadium, horseracing in Newmarket race court,St Andrew golf course in Scotland or sunningdale in England.

                                                                                       

The next event on sport calendar will be the Wimbledon championship for tennis in London during the month of July. Tennis is an interesting sport which can be played by both sex .It is easy and simple to understand. The players play on the ground in rectangular court facing each other and there is a net between them. If two players are playing than the game is called the singles game and if four players are taking part than it is called doubles.

The social class in UK

The social class in the UK is divided into 3 main classes; working class, middle class and the upper class.  The comments made on the video clip were of a girl who came from northern working class to an urban upper class. The girl was receiving teaching from 3 people for a month to change 3 things; the posture, the speech and the appearance. It was a difficult challenge for LIZ. The behaviour of the working class girl was very honest and simple but she was trying to pretend to be someone else who was not living the real life. The voice and accent of the working class girl was ordinary and strong while copying upper class accent was really difficult for her. The posture was very sluggish and untidy whereas trying to pretend to be upper class girl was tidy and organised.  The working class girl was drinking beer and whisky whereas the upper class drinks champing and wine.

Posh means elegant, swanky and rich. The origin of the word posh comes from port out starboard home where p and o, which means peninsula and orient, was printed on tickets for passengers who travelled from United Kingdom to India in the time of raj and SH were scrawled on the steamer trunks used on the voyages, by the seamen on cabins.

 The welfare system 

The social security in the United kingdom is run by the department of work and pensions agencies. It is funded by general taxation which will be taken from employers and workers over 16 years of age. The noteworthy about this department for the government is that it is the most expensive programme. The social security provides benefit and support to British people such as pregnant working women, old people who retired at 65 for men and 60 for women, or young unemployed people. Another problem that the social

security faces is poverty which is estimated to affect quarter of the population .Social security is expensive and might increase because the number of  people who rely on it are increasing.

                                                                           

The social security in Saudi Arabia is run by the general organization for social insurance which is related to the ministry of work. It is funded by the government and also through employers. The social security provides financial support for poor people, pregnant working women, disabled people, and retired people. People can retire at age of 50 or 60 years old.

THE PEOPLE OF BRITAIN

The United Kingdom or Britain is a sovereign state in Western Europe, located off north-western coast of Europe. It is a state consisting of four countries known as England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The population is around 62 million and the currency is the pound strolling. The official language of the people is English, however, there are other sub-languages such as Irish mostly spoken in Ireland, Welsh mostly spoken in Wales, Ulster Scots, Scots and Scottish Gaelic, a Celtic langue native to Scotland and Cornish which is a Brythonic Celtic language spoken in the region of Cornwall. Each country has its own symbol, flag, customs and history. For instance, Highland dress is a traditional dress worn by the Scottish, widely used during celebrations to commemorate their ancestors. In the north of Scotland, the Gaelic language is still spoken. Further more, Scotland has its own flag, symbol and saint. There is a border between each country but without guard or customs, therefore, a passport is not needed to travel from one country to another. In the United Kingdom, there are between 8% to 10% immigrants. Net immigration quadrupled to 237,000 a year between 1997 and 2007. In 2009, it was 196,000. 3 million immigrants have arrived since 1997.

Geography of United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is independent state located off the northern west coast of Europe. It consists of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It has a royal Greenwich observatory in south east London, which is the defining point of the prime meridian. The United Kingdom is surrounded by the north Atlantic and the North Sea. It is 22 miles of the North West coast of France. United Kingdom and France are separated by the English Channel. It is estimated that the United Kingdom is made up of over a 1000 Islands with mountainous landscapes, rivers and lakes. The highest point is in Scotland called Ben Nevis, 1,344 meters above sea level.

The longest river is River Severn, 220 miles of length, which flows through England and Wales. The second largest river is the river Thames, 215 miles of length, in England. The largest Lough in United Kingdom is Lough Neagh located in Northern Ireland with a surface area of 392 square kilometres.

The Senedd and visiting the Senedd

The parliament in welsh called the Senedd , the Senedd located in Wales at Cardiff, Cardiff bay, the Senedd is a modern building  with a from view facing the sea. The Senedd building was opened on 1^st March 2006. The plenary meeting takes place every week, twice on a Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:30 to 18:00 o’clock. One of its main attractive features is the funnel which is located in the centre of the building to reflect the natural light illuminated into the building.

I had the chance to visit Senedd with my colleagues and we arrived at the Senedd building, Cardiff bay at 1:45 pm. After that we were gathered outside the building and received instructions from the security. At 2:15 we went into the plenary meeting hall and had a debate on issues in concerning Wales. We all had a chance to listen to the debate which was in Welsh; however, the head phones and the screen in the hall helped translate the language from Welsh to English.

Saint David's day

St David the patron saint of Wales was born in the end of the fifth century. He was a teacher and preacher, his picture always represents him standing on a hill with dove on his shoulder. The Welsh wear leek on St David's day for memory of the battle against the Saxons to distinguish them from enemies, as Saint David advised them at that time he died on march the first therefore welsh people celebrate this day for him, welsh celebrates this day from 18^th century. The Welsh wear one or both of the national emblems of Wales on their lapel to celebrate St. David or wear leek. Leek soup and welsh cake is also baked on the day to commemorate Saint David.

Valentine day

Saint Valentine's Day, often shortened to Valentine's Day is held on the 14^th of February yearly. It is celebrated by lovers and is a day when lovers across the world express their love to each other either by sending cards, red roses or text messages. The symbol of this day is a red heart.

The government 

The government consists of a group of 20 ministers and the most significant position in the cabinet is the Prime Minister. In addition, he makes major decisions in the House of Commons and has an authority above the Queen of England in the cabinet. The cabinet has a meeting once a week and the prime minister chooses his ministers in the cabinet when he or she is elected. Moreover, the chair member of the cabinet is the prime minister; therefore, he coordinates the different government ministers. In the parliamentary system a cabinet shuffle is an informal term for an event that takes place when a Head of government rotates or makes changes to the composition of ministers in his or her cabinet. Taxes are paid to the local council and this depends mainly on the size of the residence and the number of adults living in it. The local council or the local government is responsible for the public's hygiene and environmental health. Therefore, it is responsible for collecting rubbish, inspecting, cleaning and organizing public areas such as swimming pools, public parks and playgrounds.

William Jefferson Hague was born on the 26^th of March 1961. He is a British Conservative politician and served as leader of the conservative party from 1997 to September 2001. He studied at Oxford University and is currently the British foreign secretary and the first secretary of the state under the Prime minister, David Cameron.

 European union is group of countries unite together presented as organization   .it might be argued  that the European union has many merit and demerit ,this essay will address some main positives and negativities about the European union.

The European Union has many positive such as all Europeans countries are members of the European Union therefore they have great power and economy. The ability for the European union citizen to travel and Settle anywhere within the European union countries .all the European union citizen have the right to vote, also getting jobs within the EU and that corporation will help to reduce the poverty in some of the European countries .all the EU citizen are protected abroad by any embassy of all EU. On the other hand there are some negatives for instance there is no sovereignty of setting rules and economically.

To conclude, it might be argued that the European Union has many advantages and disadvantages, people believe that being united is far better than being independent other people believe that being independent is more freely.

The United Kingdom consists of two parliament houses, the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The house of commons has more authority than the House of Lords. There are 659 constituencies in the United Kingdom. There are 529 in England while there are 72 in Scotland; those constituencies have different geographical size because of the density of the population. The party which forms the government after a general election is the one which have more MPs. General elections are running by a system called “ first past the post “ which means the person who has the most votes wins even if there a small differences in the number of voters .

There are currently 144 women MPs, the first woman MPs is Viscoutes Nancy Astor, she was in the parliament in 1919 .
